Credit Bureaus & How To Get Free Credit Reports

September 8, 2008 by miacreditrepair
Credit bureaus in the USA collect financial information from banks, lenders, utilities, collection agencies, courts, etc. with which they have a relationship. The financial information consists of basic account information such as dates accounts were opened, payment history, high credit limits, etc. The credit bureaus use this information to put together credit reports and determine credit scores which are widely used to determine consumer eligibility to receive credit in the form of loans, leases, credit cards, mortgages, etc.

Consumers should review their credit reports at least once per year. Inaccurate information can be detrimental to a consumer’s financial life. Consumers are entitled to one free credit report per year from each of the 3 main credit bureaus.
